2021 E-Commerce Data Announced
Electronic Commerce Department shared the e-commerce data of 2021 via the Electronic Commerce Information System (ETBIS).

The rapid introduction and development of technology into our lives in our country, as in the rest of the world, continues to expand the e-commerce sector. While the effect of the pandemic accelerated this development, especially SMEs started to use all technology solutions to move all their products and services to the digital environment.

When we examine the e-commerce data for 2021, the growth rates are clearly remarkable. In the shared report, it was stated that the e-commerce volume in 2021 reached 381.5 billion liras with an increase of 69% compared to the same period of the previous year, and there was an increase of 46% in the number of orders. The month with the highest e-commerce traffic, on the other hand, was announced with a rate of 20.4% in November, when campaigns were carried out in the entire sector. And also; it is observed that the lowest traffic was on Saturday, when the days of the week were examined,

It was stated that 484.347 enterprises throughout Turkey are engaged in e-commerce activities and 472,604 of these enterprises operate in e-commerce marketplaces. It is stated in the report that 74% of the enterprises operate in only one marketplace, 12% of them operate in two marketplaces, 6% in 3 marketplaces, and 3% in 4 marketplaces. Another remarkable data is that 162,051 businesses started e-commerce activities for the first time in 2021.

While Istanbul is the province with the highest number of businesses engaged in e-commerce activities, it is announced that this rate was 40%.

In the light of these figures, it has been observed that e-commerce has grown in 2021 in our country and investments have been made in the sector by businesses, logistics companies, marketplaces and all other e-commerce stakeholders.
